“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places” Ephesians 1:3
Jesus is both the gift, and the giver. The Word at the beginning (John 1), and the gift of eternal life (Romans 6:23). All things were created in Him, and for Him. Not only is He before all things, but He is holding all things together. This cosmic creator chooses not to be distant from His creation, but intimately acquainted, sustaining every breath, heartbeat, and detail of His creation. He is the source of all things.
“The only One who satisfies.”
“For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.” Psalm 107:9
“Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’” John 4:13-14
Jesus is the only one who can satisfy our weary and thirsty souls. He is the fountain of life that never runs dry. While this world offers satisfaction in a million fleeting forms, our souls were designed for the eternal joy that only Jesus offers. He really is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).
“Everything I ever wanted
Everything I'll ever need
I found it all
I found it all in You.”
“Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:25-26
Everything we could ever need is in Jesus. But not only that, everything we could ever want is in Jesus. Our savior, confidence, healer, sustainer, peace, provider, and friend. All other desires fall short. Every need and want is met fully in Him.
“Your power in surrender
Your strength when I was weak
Your patience in the waiting
Provision for my needs
Your heart when mine was broken
Your will for my desire
Your peace within the chaos
Your presence in the fire
For love You laid it all down
You died and You were raised
Now I've received the freedom
Of new life beyond the grave”
He is our portion and strength, and His “power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV). He is the hope by which we can be patient in the waiting. He draws near to the broken-hearted (Psalm 34:18). Jesus is with us through every trial and struggle (Isaiah 43:2). He is the giver of peace (John 14:27). In love, Jesus laid down His life for us (1 John 3:16). By His resurrection, we find freedom in new life (Romans 6:22).
“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4
We’ve truly found it all in Christ.
